Would there be any interest in a couple of sounds I've (re)mixed from Freesound.org? These are the ones used in 1.03.25, which include:
- Ancient Wisp 'Building Complete' and 'Can't Build Here' sound
- All 4 Elementals with 'Ready' sounds
- Dark Elf Tower selection sound (looaads of towers played a default arrow sound, even if they don't actually fire that projectile!)
- Death sound for Dragonkin and T Rex
- Death sound for Daemon, Archon, Blackguard and Doom Knight
- Death sound for all Siege Weapons
- Death sound for War Dog and Wolfrider
- Death sound for Elephant
- Death sound for Scorpion, Scarab, Scorpionman and Scorpionpriest (might also be applicable to the Queen Spider as well)
- High Elf Tower selection sound
- Manticore sound set
- Minotaur Tower selection sound (had a sound that was almost exactly the same as so many other structures, such as the Ironworks from the same side)
- Reaper soundset (WBC2 Shadow)
- Wisp 'Building Complete' and 'Can't Build Here' sound

I can upload or send them if a sample is wanted Smile.

It’s all cool for me except:
Reaper: assassin WBCI voice instead of shadow WBCII.

Another thing: Please, if someone is going to record and/or mix them beware of gain level. Volume (not gain) must be the same for every voice (Have a comparison with voices as Robert or Ancient Giant etc)! it is important to have sounds with no distortion (due to high gain)... no clicks (from cut/edition)... no fade out/in that is/are too present (i.e., that are not progressive). And again slow down when using compression that brings undesirable noises, or even using inappropriate delay/reverb.

It is lost time that everyone loses by doing a first time and remaking it all again! Sorry for being rough...

I object to changing the Reaper's voice for 2 reasons:

1. The Reaper Voice pack that the old mod team presented to us could very well be the official voice for the Reaper. It came about the same time as the new High Elven buildings (which we know for fact came from I2) but they never mentioned who was responsible for it, other than that Maestorak was the one who made an installer that got the files into the game.

2. If my vision ever comes true of seeing WBC3 with entirely new modeled units, we're going to need as many speech banks as we can get. As the Reaper's current speeches have lines that specifically refer to itself as the Reaper, these simply wouldn't work for any other unit and would become discarded (and wasted) usable content.

Nothing to say about the reaper. but, again, if you or someone that is reading this is, is responsible for intruducing new sounds, be carefull. A little more quality then. It is easy to work when you have good material.

It's funny you should say that (mostly refering to your first post) because even some of I2's work isn't quite up to scratch. :p

A lot of the old WBC1 speech files are much quieter than the more modern speech files. See the Red Mage and Knight Champion for example.
Also, one of the Flame Cannon's sounds (I believe it's the select sound) has a bit a scrap on the recording - right at the very start of the sound file. I was tempted to remove this myself but never got around to it.
In addition to that, Iriki, Melkor and Antharg's speech banks aren't actually complete, hence why they all have the same grainy sound as the  Fey Hero's incomplete and unused "Building complete" speech file.

Editing is fine, they just need a credit list to the sound authors. A link to the bottom of the 1.03.25 credits list should be ok Smile.

If you're thinking of leveling volume sounds (I think you should), beware of all "Death" ones: Those may bring distortion if you do not use a compression to level the volume up.

However, "Death15-DeamonicDeath" already has distortion (the little "stars" that you listen on "top" of the scream)... whatever you are going to do with that, will always get worse, I´m afraid.

I have no issues with any of it, other than the Reaper's Voice bank for the reasons I mentioned above (and that I had plans to use the WBC2 Shadow's speech bank for a Gargoyle / Grotesque  bounce ).
Basically, I would prefer that we didn't throw away anything that is usable from our limited resources if we can't create a new replacement for it. If you can make it better, or replace it with something that we can't use else where later down the line, then feel free to do so. But also, at the end of the day, this is only a suggestion and opinion from me - it really comes down to what Patrick wants. (Unless I assassinate him and claim his mod for my own)

That should be ok. I must've missed the Daemonic death sound, sorry about that Sad. Hopefully I might have some sound recordings backed up. I think a lot of the original stuff was deleted in the great HDD bonfire as I'm now going to call it. I lost all the converted WBC1 features and everything, which makes me a bit sad. At least I didn't lose the converted WBC1 & WBC2 tiles though. That would've been pretty bad, they took an annoying amount of time to import into WBC3 Surprised.

Anyway, I'll delve into my backup and see what I can salvage.

Other things I was going to do in the future was find sounds for projectile impacts. Many of them sound exactly the same, especially the 'building hit' ones. Also I was going to find a sound for the Eagle when it fails to construct a building.

Sorry I haven't been around for a while, I've been very busy lately Neutral. I'll check out the sounds as soon as I can.

Edit: I've given them a listen and I think they sound pretty good Smile. The Earth Elemental one in particular is definitely much better, but I feel the Daemon and Dragon death ones may need to be a little more 'shouty'.

Please Joe help me here scratch : We have unique deaths for all dragons. What is/are the unit/s that should have your draconian  and daemonic death sound?I am organizing a lot of sounds.

Can we use your daemonic for daemons and draconian for salamanders? thanks.
